New laboratory for Mekhitarist School
The location of Mekhitarist school (Ashrafieh area), was a dangerous neighborhood exposed to snipers and mortar shells, the habitants were all displaced and the school was almost abandoned. During this period the school was affected badly. It was deserted for long and without any resources it was unable to open its doors after the armed conflict ended.
Although the building remained undamaged the furniture, glass and all the tools and equipment were worn out or damaged specially the laboratory. It lacked many things like microscope, video projector, Anatomy models, teaching aids and chemical active ingredients and laboratory equipment, they also don’t have any scientific books and resources for the students.
Impact: The school was able to revive their science lab by procuring the needed tools such as microscope, human bodyanatomy models chemistry lab equipment and a video projector to facilitate demonstration.
Ms. Aline Panoyan, the headmistress of the school explains: “our children deserve the best educational experience, they have the right to explore and learn with the best tools and resource. Thanks to your generous support we’ve been able to revive this lab to serve its true purpose in educating our students and assist them reach their full potential”.
