Wissam Haddad, 44, is married with three children: Adib (born in 2013), Anabelle (born in 2016), and Elias (born in 2023). He lives with his family and his mother in a rented house in Jaramana. Before the crisis, Wissam worked as a graphic designer at a printing company in Harasta and was in the process of establishing his family and planning for the future. However, when the war began, his life drastically changed. Harasta was captured by armed groups, causing him to lose his job and find himself amidst violent conflicts, surviving by a miracle.
Due to the heavy shelling in Jaramana, Wissam had to move his family multiple times, fearing for their safety. By 2017, realizing the situation was not improving and unable to make ends meet despite his efforts, Wissam decided to move his family to Lebanon in search of better opportunities. They endured two difficult years there, but as security deteriorated, they returned to Syria hoping for a fresh start.
Back in Syria, Wissam found employment as a journalist with a public channel, and his wife also started working to support the family. However, financial strains prevented them from improving their living conditions. Determined to make a change, Wissam quit his job and used his savings to start a general services office called "Steps," offering services to students, including translation and printing.
This new project initially improved Wissam’s situation, but he faced challenges due to a lack of assets and consistent electricity, which hindered his ability to meet his family's increasing needs and cover school tuition fees. Seeking assistance, Wissam applied to the Hope Center with a plan to enhance his business.
Today, Wissam is deeply grateful for the support he received from the Hope Center. With their help, he was able to purchase a new laptop, a printing machine, and an electricity system. This support marked a new chapter in his life, promising a brighter future for him and his family.
