After her husband’s death at a young age, Nisreen sacrificed a lot to make up for this big loss to her only son Roy and to provide a dignified life for him. She used to work as an employee for a local magazine until the war came and forced her to flee with her son to a village near Tartus city. During displacement, a relative helped her to work in the field of selling clothes and she gained good experience over time, this job was profitable and allowed her to cover all of her son’s needs. In 2017, she decided to go back home and start a new life in Homs, she rented a shop in a high populated area and everything went well for three years, until COVID-19 started in Syria and she had to close the shop. 

The lockdown lasted for two months, through this period, the severe inflation really damaged her business and seasons changed from winter to summer without being able to sell all the winter clothes she had, all that put Nisreen in a difficult financial situation. Supporting her project with more goods got her out of her financial troubles and helped to improve her situation, hoping to compensate for all the previous losses she suffered. 

Haytham opened his own electronics shop back in 2001, he lives with his wife Samar and their five-year-old son Remon and he is their sole provider and support. When the war started, the family were displaced from their home at Al-Hamidia neighborhood, they fled to a village near Tartous where Haytham opened a small electronics shop to take care of their everyday needs. In 2018, this family went back to their old life and Haytham reopened his former shop, he became well-known in the neighborhood for the quality of the alternative energy devices he added, which became highly demanded after the war due to the frequent blackouts, also the practical tips he gave to his customers helped him to create wide relations around the city. 

Unfortunately, in the past few years, the huge inflation reflected negatively on the business, especially that the products he sells started to get more expensive every day until he became unable to supply his shop with more goods. The provided support will help him to increase his income and save his only source of livelihood. With the long experience he has and the trust he built with his clients through the years, Haytham aspires to expand his customer-base to cover more needs around Homs city, hoping to get an exclusive agency from a famous brand to sell its products in the near future. 

Emilia is an example of the strong Syrian woman, who would do anything for the sake of her family. 

To the Northwestern countryside of Homs, in a village called "Maskanah", Emilia and her husband Toni started their lovely family. They taught their three children to love their land, which represents the meaning of life for this family who worked in farming for generations and lived gratefully on the bounties of the generous land.

Their life was very simple and they all helped each other but unfortunately, the devastating war had its destructive effects on all aspects of life; the severe economic crisis, poverty, and lack of work opportunities were only a small side of the calamities. 

Emilia and Toni were no longer able to cover all their children's needs, and farming alone was not enough to secure a decent living. Toni and his eldest son Elias (21 years old) traveled to Lebanon hoping for a better income, while Emilia stayed with George (18 years old) and Eliana (14 years old) in the village, to take care of the land and plant it with grape trees.Unfortunately, the situation in Lebanon has quickly deteriorated and the income of both the father and son combined was barely sufficient.

Hearing about a pilot project that provides agricultural support, encouraged Emilia to apply for a mini-cultivator, which would improve the productivity and save high costs of plowing the spacious land, with the hope of reviving the family's only source of livelihood to be ruinited with her husband and son. 

“Instead of being passive and waiting to receive aids; I want to be productive and work to provide for my family” those were Hanna’s words during his project opening, talking about the positive change which happened after having a mini-cultivator. 

Hanna is a farmer from Maskaneh who suffered a lot during the last few years from the high renting costs; his income became barely enough and the huge inflation made him struggle to cover his family’s essential needs, being the sole breadwinner for his wife and two daughters. 

One day, Hanna saw a poster about the Micro program, which supports agricultural projects, and found this the opportunity that he has been looking for to improve his situation, so he immediately applied for a mini-cultivator.

This project will help Hanna’s family and many of his relatives to plow their lands without losing most of their profits, and ensure a better living for these families during the hard economic circumstances. 

Jad's land of wheat has always been the family's only source of livelihood for many generations. He lives with his wife Lauren and their one-year-old baby Bashour, the couple works together in farming.

Jad bought a tractor back in 2015; this agricultural vehicle improved the production in his land and saved him the high plowing costs.  But lately, the huge inflation has heavily affected the agricultural sector, farmers are suffering from the significant increase in the prices of all the materials and equipment.

The tires of Jad's tractor were no longer functioning and driving it became dangerous, so he had no other choice but to rent another tractor whenever he needed to plow his land. The family lives on the bounties of the land, while the tractor reduces a lot of the expenses, thus not being able to use it weighed down on their financial status. 

The Micro-Agricultural Projects Program was a great chance for Jad to improve his situation and save his profits, to make sure his wife and son have a decent livelihood. 

No words can describe a mother’s sacrifice, and how much she endures to suffer for the sake of her children. Nawal became her children’s sole provider after her husband passed away, the head of the family, and she had to take both roles for them.

The retired teacher had to find a source of income, she decided to work in the family’s land, which helped her cover the basic needs; the land is located next to her house which allowed her to closely follow up with the cultivation. Over years, Nawal managed to plant different crops until she became able to depend on the land for livelihood. Today, she lives with her son Nasser, who lost his job in Lebanon due to the economic crisis and returned home to stay with her in their village "Ozeir" and help her in farming. 

Nawal and her son decided that it’s impossible to keep using the old worn-out methods of watering, and having an irrigation system has become a necessity, especially since their land is in a good location close to the main well of the village. Getting the irrigation network encouraged Nawal and Nasser to plant new crops like summer vegetables, which will reflect on their profits and give them more stability for the future. 

Jihan took upon herself the responsibility of looking after her family when her husband Yaakoub was called for military service, and despite all the effort it takes to work in farming, she chose to be strong for the sake of their lovely family. The mother of two; Marcel (4years old) and Yousef (2years old), lives with her children in their home village Ozeir. The land was her only way to ensure a decent living during the absence of Yaakoub, their sole provider in life. 

The family’s land is located near their house, which allowed Jihan to take close care of the crops; she planted many kinds of vegetables in addition to olive trees, but the hardest challenge for her was watering the land since depending on the traditional methods became very exhausting. 

Supporting this hardworking mother with a suitable irrigation system will alleviate her burdens, and help her in preserving a dignified life for the children.

Maroun lives with his wife Kinda in their home village Ozeir where they work together in farming, besides their main job as school teachers. 
When the economic crisis in the country started to get harder, the value of their salaries was sharply decreasing, which pushed them to invest more in their fertile land and plant it with vegetables and olive trees. 

The family owns a small tractor which they use to plow their land, but during the last few years the tires of this tractor became worn out and Maroun couldn't afford to change them, so he had to seek an alternative solution and rent a tractor. Plowing the land has become a heavy financial burden and the couple lost a big amount of their income which is already barely sufficient for their daily needs. 

Maroun and Kinda found this initiative as a great opportunity to improve their situation, by saving them big amount of expenses that they use for renting a tractor, and will allow them to focus on securing a better living for their growing family.

Life taught Maurice how to take responsibility for a family at a very young age after his father passed away. Since then, his mother Suzan who is a teacher did everything she could to compensate for her four children's great loss, and the whole family was depending on her salary for a living. 

Maurice is a 22-year-old veterinary student who lives with his mother, brother, and two sisters in a simple house in Ozeir village. He took upon himself the responsibility of supporting his family when his mother’s salary became hardly enough for their increasing needs under the hard circumstances in the country. 

He started reading about farming on the internet and gained a good experience, and with his brother’s help, they started working in their father’s land, and experimented by planting different kinds of trees and vegetables trying to alleviate the heavy burdens on their mother’s shoulders. 

Although the land helped this family to get a better income, having a mini-cultivator was essential to raise its productivity and save their effort as they were renting a cultivator to plow their land, the thing that meant splitting their revenue with the owner of the cultivator and making less profits. 

Maurice managed to find the balance between his studies and his duties towards the family and we are hoping that the offered support will draw a brighter future for this enthusiastic young man. 

Fayez lives with his family of six; his wife, their three daughters, and son in their village Al-Hamra, he worked in farming besides working as a government employee for 35 years until he retired in 2020. Fayez has always been known for being a productive person, who loves to work. After retirement, his pension was barely enough to cover his big family’s essential needs and since he had the time now, working in farming became his prime livelihood.

He used to grow barley, olive, and almond trees, he decided to try a new crop, which was pistachio; during the hard economic circumstances in the country, Fayez couldn’t buy the seedlings and needed support to make his first step. 

One day, he saw a poster in the church about the Micro-Agricultural Projects Program, and that encouraged him to apply and share his new idea with the specialized team since this crop wasn’t planted before in his village. Fayez’s project was approved and his land is ready to plant the seedlings in January, which is the suitable timing for this crop, hoping to improve his income and be able to provide a dignified life for his family as he has always has done.
