The hardest thing George had to experience during the war was losing his father who was shot and killed while he was trying to buy some food. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only loss he had to bear; he was forced to flee his house in Bab Al-Sebaa neighborhood after it was destroyed by a shell and George with his small family were displaced to a village near Homs for 7 years until they were able to return back.

George worked as a wall painter since 1991, between Syria and Lebanon, and he was well-known for the quality and creativity of his work. In 2018, George rented an apartment in Al-Hamidia neighborhood and took his wife and daughter back to their home city. All of his equipment was stolen, but he borrowed or rented the essential tools because buying new equipment was nearly impossible, especially since the family was reestablishing their life from scratch upon losing everything.

Dealing with all the financial burdens started to get exhausting, and all of George's efforts to recompense were not enough; his income was insufficient under the severe economic crisis in the country, and he needed a way to work independently.

Through the program of micro projects, George got all the needed equipment, mainly the electric generator which made a big difference in his productivity, now he will continue doing his best to ensure his family the best living..

A destroyed house and an abandoned land in the village were all that Abdo's family was left with after the vicious war; the family of four fled their home village Al-Dwair without realizing they won't come back again. 

After finishing his nine-year military service, Abdo worked on a rented taxi to help his father who works in floor grinding and polishing to provide a decent life for their family (the parents, sister, and himself). But while the economic crisis was getting harder, the income of Abdo and his father was sharply decreasing and the family's financial burdens were getting heavier with every passing day, especially since they've lost everything and had to start from scratch. He started searching for a source of income to support the livelihood situation.

The mini pick-up truck will be a sustainable source of livelihood for Abdo and a step on his road towards a better lifestyle, hoping to compensate for all the losses and terrors he had suffered by the cruel war.

Rakan's career started in 2010 with great skills in driving different vehicles. He lived with his wife Hiba in a rented apartment after they were displaced from their home village Al-Dwair; It wasn't easy to leave the village where they first met and started their own family, but they had to take the hard decision and escape the cruel war, which destroyed everything they built together. 

In 2019, Rakan started working as a bus driver with a simple salary, while the renting costs consumed almost %50 of his income, securing a decent living was getting more difficult with each passing day, but waiting for their first child took away from their suffering. 

One day, Rakan saw a poster about the Micro Projects Program while visiting their church, and the priest encouraged him to apply considering that he is the sole provider. The well-reputed man studied his project and applied for a mini pick-up truck, drawing on his previous experience in the field of goods distribution, and the church promised to provide him with work opportunities. 

Rakan and Hiba are doing all they can to ensure the best life possible for the upcoming baby, hoping for a new beginning for their beautiful family. 

Samer is the eldest son of a big family, consisting of his parents and 6 children, when he graduated from high school he volunteered in the military service to help his father in supporting their family, since the volunteering soldiers got a monthly salary. 

His father passed away at a young age and Samer became the only provider for his mother and younger siblings. Unfortunately, his mother passed away only four years later, leaving her 7 children behind. Samer had to take the role of both parents and tried hard to compensate for his brothers and sisters' tough loss, he took care of them until they all grew up and secured each one of them a good life. 

After that, Samer got married and started a family with his wife Raghda, they were blessed with 2 sons, Yousef and Rafiq. In 2009, the hard-working man decided that it was time to rest and spend more time with his small family.

Unfortunately, that didn't last for long due to the war; the family had to leave their home, which was hit by a shell and burned to the ground, they all stood together and managed to repair it gradually. 

Today, Samer, Raghda, and Yousef (who was newly discharged from the army) live together in Al-Arman neighborhood while Rafiq is currently serving in the army. 

During the last few years, Samer's pension was no longer sufficient for their daily needs, so he had to find a second job as a truck driver for one year, then in 2019, he started a job in a paint shop. 

Staying without work was never an option for this industrious man who devoted his life to providing the people he loves with a dignified life. the mini pickup truck will secure a good income especially with all the work opportunities he will get from his many aquaintances, at the same time it is most suitable for his age and comfort. 

Adnan is a hardworking man who chose his profession as a floor tiler 25 years ago, the well-reputed man has dedicated his life to ensure a dignified life for his small family; being the sole supporter of his mother Soaad (76 years old) and his sister Hyam (45 years old) who is an employee.

The cruel war forced this family to leave their home in Bab Al-Sebaa neighborhood for a period of time and when they had the chance to return, they found out that their house was damaged and robbed, but they managed to repair it with the help of a local association. 

Lately, Adnan has been facing many hardships due to the current situation in the country, especially the lack of electricity and being unable to buy new equipment because of the high prices, all these obstacles decreased his productivity and deprived him of many work opportunities. 

This self-made man deserves a chance to save the profession he loves, and with the new tiling equipment his career will continue to flourish and give the family the needed financial support.

Playing the role of both parents can be very challenging, and Nahla who is a single mother, not only did her best to provide a dignified life for her only son Marios (14 years old), she also wanted to make sure that their home was always a safe and healthy environment. 

the mother and son live with her sister at their parents’ house after Nahla split up with her husband, she works as an employee and also runs her newly initiated project. When the burdens of life started to get heavier, her salary was no longer sufficient for the daily needs; the hardworking mother decided to search for another job, and since she has reasonable experience in the field of beauty (make-up, nail care, and tattoo) she aspired to improve her skills and attended many related courses. 
Nahla's friends and colleagues encouraged her to start her own business, with simple capabilities she bought some essential tools and started working at home but unfortunately, she couldn’t afford the costs of purchasing all the required devices and materials.

Her ambitions have no limits and supporting her to complete what she has started will help her ensure her son a better livelihood. After making the first step, Nahla aims to develop her micro project by adding more services hoping to maintain a successful career. 

The map of wrinkles on Azar's face describes the long journey he has traveled over years; the lines around his eyes, which appear with his warm smile, reflect a whole history full of good old days.

After more than 50 years of unlimited giving from the heart; the 74-year-old man never stopped supporting his family, despite the exhaustion. Uncle Azar is a floor tiler who lives with his wife Hind and their son George who works with him. 

The cruel war had left no choice for this family but to leave their home like many families from Al-Hamidia neighborhood. During the first two years, they had the chance to stay in a relative’s house then moved to a rented apartment for six years; in 2021, a local association helped them repair their damaged house and return after eight years of displacement. 

Life has changed a lot after the war; the lack of electricity has become a real obstacle in the way of all the activities in the country. Lately, Azar’s work has been interrupted because of the power shortage in addition to using his old equipment which decreased his productivity. 

Giving up is not a choice for this hardworking man, by supporting him with the new tiling equipment he will continue working in the profession he loves challenging all the hard circumstances. 

For more than 35 years, Hassan built a good reputation by creating beauty out of stones; his skills in wall cladding and decorating in addition to stone-carving made this experienced man one of the most well-known names in Homs for his talent in making special works of art.

Hassan is the head of a family of four and their only provider, when the war started he fled with his wife and two children from Al-Hamidia to a village called "Zaidal" where they stayed in a relative's house for a while, then returned to Al-Arman neighborhood in Homs until Al-Hamidia became safe again, but first they had to repair their damaged house. 

Life after war was very different, Syrians are struggling daily against many challenges, like the high prices and the lack of electricity that affected all of life's activities. Being the sole breadwinner, Hassan couldn't afford to buy all the essential requirements for his work, which has been hindered lately by the hard economic situation in the country. 

The only thing Hassan had in mind when he applied for the Micro Projects Program was saving the profession he loves and ensuring its sustainability, to keep providing a dignified living for his family.

“It was very dangerous to stay, and while we were getting ready to leave, an armed group came and demanded our house key”, with these words Bashar described the last day in Al-Hamidia before displacement.

Bashar is the only provider for his wife, their two children, and his mother, he is a well-experienced plumber and has been working in this field since 1991.

The struggle journey started back in 2011, when the family escaped to Tartus city, 7 months later, they moved to a village called Al-Jneineh for 2 years. During that time, Bashar couldn’t find a job and depended on savings to cover their essential needs. By 2013, Bashar managed to find a modest job with a plumber in Fairouza village and took his family there to live in a rented apartment.

When Homs city became safe, they couldn’t wait to get back, but a big surprise was waiting for them! All of their belongings in addition to Bashar’s equipment were stolen from the house.

Despite the harsh situation, they tried to support each other in lifting all heavy burdens and move on, with the little money left, Bashar bought some simple tools and started working. The tools he had were not sufficient; he had to borrow the required equipment from his friends to finish the work, however, he didn’t give up.

This family deserves helping their sole provider to improve his project which will reflect positively on their livelihood.

No matter how bumpy the road gets, you got to keep going.

In 2000, Mourshed started working in an Aluminum workshop, and within a short period, he gained great skills and proved himself among the other craftsmen, three years later, he decided to open his first workshop in Al-Rastan village (near Homs).

His business was going very well until one day, he was forced at gunpoint to close the workshop and never come back, just like many Syrians who lost their livelihoods because of the cruel war. 

Mourshed is originally from a village called “Om Sharshouh” that witnessed a lot of terrors during the war, his family was living there peacefully until the village was raided by the armed groups. Unfortunately, kidnapping and killing his brother was the hardest thing he had to experience, and after this sad incident, his elderly parents had no one to take care of them but him. Mourshed went immediately to his home village and found his parents in a tragic situation; he managed to get them out and rented them an apartment near his house. Now the father of three daughters is the only provider for his family and his parents; he works in a workshop which he opened in Homs after losing all of his equipment. 

His simple workshop lacks important equipment, in addition to the problem of power shortage that the country has been going through after the war. In 2019, Mourshed applied for a vacancy in a governmental institution and got the job as a janitor to ensure a decent income which was barely enough for the daily needs. 

Not all of us have the courage to start over like Mourshed did, supporting this hardworking man’s project will compensate for a part of his losses and help the family.

Hussam worked in goods distribution for more than 15 years on many vehicles, but he never had one of his own. He is the only responsible for his family of six; his wife and their three daughters in addition to his elderly parents. 

He started working in this field in 2004, between Homs and the suburbs as an employee for a cleaning materials company, his business was going very well; he managed to build wide relations with many shops and traders, and that helped him in creating a good marketing network to sell his products. 
In 2011, the vicious war started in Syria and his family fled to a village near Hama called “Misyaf”, during that period, Hussam had no other choice but to work as a waiter to provide for his family, especially that one of his daughters has epilepsy and she needs a special care and daily medications.

When the situation improved in the city of Homs, Hussam’s family went back home to their old life but this time everything was different; his salary became insufficient and no matter how hard he worked due to the serious economic crisis in the country. Having a mini pick-up truck will ensure him a better income and give him more independence at work.

It’s time for Hussam to have his own project that will allow him to preserve a dignified life for his big family, counting on his experience and the great marketing skills he gained throughout his career. 

Ghassan is a married man and a father of three; two boys and a girl. He used to work as a driver and worked on many different vehicles throughout his long career since 2001, but the cruel war came along and brought with it painful incidents for the family. In 2014, a shell hit their home destroying a huge part of it while Ghassan’s wife was in there, she was injured by a shrapnel, her injury was dangerous and as a result, she lost her kidney and needed a very long time to recover. Unfortunately, in that same incident, Ghassan lost his only source of livelihood as he was parking his minibus near the house and it was completely burned. 

Starting from scratch was never easy on a man of his age, he had to work on someone else’s car being the sole breadwinner. Working that way was impractical; he was sharing a big amount of his profits with the car owner which made his income insufficient for the basic daily needs. 

Having a mini pick-up truck will allow Ghassan to compensate for a part of his loss, and give him the chance to provide a decent life for his family.
