Lama’s life was forever changed by the war; she was held captive for four harrowing months by the armed groups while trying to flee their home village Al- Qaryatayn, she and her family endured unimaginable suffering. 

When they finally escaped, they arrived in Homs city with nothing but their clothes. Determined to move on, they rented a house in Al-Arman neighborhood and started over from scratch. 

When Nizar’s income couldn’t meet their growing needs, the selfless mother, undeterred, turned to her culinary skills, making delicious homemade sweets and pastries back in 2018. 

But without proper equipment, her small business struggled, especially that the demand was increasing. Her resilience led her to the Micro Projects Program, where she received vital support. With newfound resources, she transformed her micro project into a lifeline for her family, proving that even amidst adversity, hope can flourish. 

Hala, married to Maher, a school principal in Homs, has always been determined to secure a stable future for their three children, especially Milad, who is blind and a student of English literature. Living in a rented house, Maher's modest salary is insufficient, particularly with John and Joelle in university. The family's main source of extra income, their apple land in Al-Marana village, was tragically destroyed by fire.

Hala knew they needed a reliable and sustainable solution to support the family and ensure Milad's future; she envisioned a project that met a constant demand, ice production. Recognizing the potential, she applied to the Micro Projects Program. With the support, she acquired an ice making machine, water filter, ice containers, an electric generator, and other essential tools.

Now, the family operates their ice-making business from home, leveraging their local connections. This project not only provides immediate financial relief but also promises long-term stability. It's a beacon of hope for Milad, guaranteeing him a secure living despite his special need. Hala's micro project has transformed their lives, proving that with determination and innovative thinking, they can overcome any obstacle. 

Firyal lives in Qattinah village with her husband Maher and their two sons, both university students. Before the war, their family owned a successful chicken farm, providing a stable income. However, in 2012, their farm was completely destroyed, leaving them with nothing.

In 2021, Firyal and Maher decided to find a new, sustainable source of income. They rented a small shop and purchased an ice-making machine hoping to enhance their livelihood. Despite their efforts, the machine's limited capabilities have hindered their production, especially with the high demand for ice in their village.

This small shop is their only source of income, crucial for supporting their sons' education and meeting daily needs. To improve their family's lifeline, Firyal applied to the Micro Projects Program for support to replace their old machine with a more efficient one. A new machine would enable them to increase production, meet demand, and secure a more stable income.

Her determination to provide for her family drives her every day. With the support from the Micro Projects Program, she hopes to turn their small shop into a thriving business, ensuring a stable living for her family. 

Once thriving in a small village, Lody's family faced adversity when their modest grocery shop became unsustainable due to rising prices and harsh living conditions. Forced to close their business, they relocated to her mother's house in Fairouza village, where they rented a small vegetable shop. But this venture alone couldn’t meet their needs.

Her husband, weakened after a kidney surgery, couldn’t work. Their son and daughter, both students, depended on their parents’ resilience. The shop was their lifeline, a beacon of hope. She dreamed of transforming it into a mini-market, a place where they could provide for their family and regain their dignity.

With faith, Lody and her family took the first step by opening the shop and sought support to turn their humble shop into a thriving mini-market. Currently, the shelves are filled with a variety of goods and food commodities. The shop has been upgraded with a refrigerator and battery, essential for storing dairy products. This mini-market provides the family now with a lifeline and a hopeful outlook for a brighter future.

Sabah, a 52-year-old woman from the village of Qattinah, faced numerous challenges. Married with two sons who are baccalaureate students, she lived with her in-laws. Before the war, she prepared and sold food preserves from home. However, a spinal disc issue forced her to stop working. Her husband, despite vision problems, repaired agricultural sprayers as the sole breadwinner, earning a modest income.

The war brought further hardship, they suffered theft and losses as the equipment her husband used for work stolen and money owed by clients never returned. Yet, Sabah's spirit remained unbroken. 

She had an empty shop and envisioned opening a housewares shop, a venture that would be manageable for her and her husband and could become a family project.

Hearing about the Micro Projects Program, which supports families in need, she applied and her application was approved. Today, the couple both work in the shop, and their lives have transformed. The family enjoys a steady income, and their living situation has significantly improved, launching a new chapter of hope and stability.

Naji Al-Nasr Allah, 42, spent sixteen years of his life as an expatriate in Lebanon working hard for more than 12 hours daily as a salesman at a mall trying his best to provide for his family.

He got married a few years ago to Carol Al-Zawahra and did his best to establish a family in Lebanon, but after the Port explosion in 2021, Naji's stability crumbled as the economic and security conditions deteriorated rapidly there affecting his financial condition and forcing Naji to leave everything he worked for and return to Syria, his homeland, and start from scratch.

Naji paid all the money he saved for the military allowance so he could work freely and took a job at a wholesale center as a salesman distributing goods and products to shops, but for a country in the postwar period, the wages were way less than the increasing living expenses making Naji and his wife toiling at work to provide the basic living demands.

Carol had to quit her job due to pregnancy complications which led sorrowfully to losing the baby, while Naji became unable to bear the escalating costs of living alone and needed to have his own source of income to improve his situation.

With great hope in his heart, Naji sought support from the Micro project program applying for the mini-van project with the idea of distributing food supplies for his own account.

Today, Naji is so grateful for the opportunity that allowed him to restart with determination and faith and he is willing to do his best to reclaim stability for his life and improve his financial conditions hoping to secure a decent living for his beloved family.

Abdullah Al-Sehnawy has spent 33 years mastering the maintenance of electrical regulators. He is married to Rima Al-Haj and lives in Jaramana with their three children: Elias, who works at a sweets store, George and Sara, who are still in school.

Abdullah's career began in 1990 when he started working in maintenance within a workshop, handling all types of repairs by himself and working hard to gain experience in the field. However, his employer provided minimal financial compensation for his efforts. During the years of war, his already meager income became insufficient to cover the rising cost of living.

In 2015, Abdullah transitioned to freelancing, offering maintenance services independently. By 2020, he had managed to rent a small workshop, allowing him to focus more on his business. Despite his dedication, his tools were very old, and he needed new materials to aid in the repair of electrical regulators, his primary profession. Unfortunately, in 2022, Abdullah's life took a dramatic turn when he fell and lost sight in his right eye. Despite these challenges, Abdullah continued to work tirelessly.

His workshop, though modest, became a place where he repaired and traded both new and used electrical regulators. Determined to improve his situation, he applied for support from the Hope Center. Recognizing his dedication and need, the center provided him with the necessary equipment and tools to expand his work.

Today, Abdullah is profoundly grateful for this opportunity. With the new tools, he can take on more work, significantly enhancing his business and income. This support has not only improved his professional capabilities, but also his living conditions, giving him and his family hope for a dignified life. 

Awadh Al-Awadh, had a full life marked by love, loss, and challenges. He is married to Reema Saada and lives in the family house in Al-Dwallaa.

Their son, Eyad, born in 2008, brought both joy and struggles into their lives as he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth, which required constant care, regular medical checkups, medications, and specialized supplies. Awadh and Reema struggled to meet the financial demands of their son's condition, relying on assistance from charities and churches.

For thirty years, Awadh was an employee at the Ministry of Oil until his retirement in 2022. With Eyad's needs becoming more demanding, Awadh found no time for rest and had to take a job at a stationery store despite the meager income, because he was seeking a resource to cover his son's expenses. 

Unfortunately, not only did his financial condition deteriorate but also his relationship with his wife due to the stress of their circumstances and the burden of providing for Eyad, leaving Awadh feeling powerless in the face of mounting expenses.

With great faith in his heart, Awadh turned to the Hope Center, seeking support for a stationery shop that would also sell toys and children's gifts. With his experience in the field and the location of Al-Dwallaa area as a hub for university students, Awadh believed his venture would be successful.

When Awadh was told that his project was accepted, he shed tears of hope, for he knew that the success of his project could be the turning point the family desperately needed and a chance to strengthen their fractured family bonds.

Life has never been easy for Safaa and her family especially during the years of war since they were forced to flee from their area of residence in Al-Dekhanieh to Jaramana back in 2014 due to the violent incidents that happened there as their house and belongings were ransacked.

Safaa and her husband had to start from scratch and tried their best to overcome their losses but unfortunately, her husband who was a hardworking painter, was exposed to a tragic fall during his work that left him unable to work due to severe injuries to his left hand. 

Moreover, in 2020 their home was further damaged in a gas explosion causing burns to Safaa and Samaan in addition to ruining their home. Yet, amidst all these adversities, Safaa refused to despair, and she decided to take action to provide for her family and support her husband, so she seized an opportunity to enroll in a sewing and design course at the Holy Hearts charity where she was given a sewing-machine to start working. 

With her newfound skills and strong determination, Safaa found a job at a Clothing Company as a seamstress where she earned weekly wages to support her family but the long working hours far from her daughter were very hard which forced Safaa to quit her job and return to work from home. 

With the help of Hope Center, Safaa received the support and encouragement she needed to start her own sewing workshop, offering alteration services, and executing designs for customers. 

this project is a chance for Safaa to embark on this new chapter of her life, ready to overcome any obstacle that stands in her path and build a better future for her daughter.

Within a closely-knit family committed to ensuring a respectable standard of living for its five members, Rawad Dhoumat, a young man in his forties, shoulders the responsibility of providing for his wife and three children and he consistently endeavored to ensure their safety and happiness, relentlessly pursuing this goal through every available means.

He commenced his professional journey as a sales representative until 2015 when due to the crisis in Syria, the company he worked for closed, compelling him to redirect his career.

While navigating through available job opportunities, Rawad experienced personal setbacks, such as the loss of his car in 2018 due to a shell hitting Jarmana as he passed through the area. This was not merely a material loss but a significant shock to the family.

Despite the challenges of war years such as the insecurity situation and financial adversities, Rawad persisted, working various occupations, from a salesperson to a goods distributor, and eventually took up taxi driving after his regular work hours. However, he needed something that could provide the financial stability necessary to secure his family's future.

Full of determination for a better tomorrow, Rawad applied for the pick-up project from Hope Center with the idea of distributing goods as his own independent project, aiming to augment his income and establish a reliable source of livelihood. 

The support he received fueled his desire to build a decent future for his children, surpassing all difficulties with his belief that better days are ahead and that determination and hard work would yield the desired success.
