Micro-Projects is a livelihood-support program which helps family providers who had either lost their livelihood during the war, or aspire to be a productive and financially independent part of the community by starting their own income generating business. By financing their micro-projects, Christian Hope Center is helping Christian families to have a sustainable source of income, through the provision of equipment, machinery and tools. This will eventually mitigate the economic harm caused by increasing poverty and insecurity, preserve their dignity, and alleviate the calamities of war and the economic crisis, which will ultimately preserve the existence of an active Christian community in Syria. In addition to the Micro-Projects supported in Cities of Aleppo, Homs and Damascus, the program also supports families who rely on agriculture as their principal source of income in rural Homs.

‘I rented the shop and I used to pay monthly payments, I have some equipment and my brother works with me, I used to work before the war in the goldsmithing business but due to a neurological disease, I was unable to continue in this work field that requires accuracy. I live with my mother, my sister, in addition to my brother and his wife and three children, so we are 8 people in the same house. We were displaced from Al- Saydeh Mountain and rented a small place through the help of CONGREGATION DES FRERES MARISTES. I was left with no job and two kids. I worked in several jobs just to provide income such as selling gas bottles, cleaning houses, cleaning chimneys, and anything I could find. This shop will be a new hope for me to start over after going through all this agony and to work in something that I actually like and know how to do well.

I used to work at several workshops in tailoring on the sewing machines, during the war crisis I worked in a shelter that belongs to my brother in law under my house, and I borrowed sewing machines and with the help of my husband "who also lost his job because of war" and my kids who help me after finishing their study at the university, we work hard and get by. My goal is not to get rich, rather not to have to beg anyone for money and to have a decent life for our family. We're a big family and we need every little help we can get.

Bassel and his brother, Eli, own a store for selling computer hardware and maintenance. During the crisis, the shop was substantially damaged by the fighting because of many shells that fell in its area, the shop was not closed however because they did not want to lose their customers.
