The transition from student-life to full-time career can often be challenging. Specially that many graduates lack the essential skills required to get by in the workplace. The main objectives of the DISC project are to help the newly graduates to be oriented workwise and to equip them with the workplace skills they need to ensure they are ready to embark on the work market. The project works on 3 basic aspects simultaneously; the basic skills, employment skills, the companionship to share experience and support. The thing that eventually enriches the graduates’ CV, their first window to show potentials and qualifications.
Mery Kousa, Civil Engineer
Position: Social worker in the rehabilitation office at SSCC Saint-Coeurs. After graduation I was totally confused about my future and wondering what to do next, that is when I joined HDISC. The center and the various trainings and courses, helped me to enrich my skills and start planning my career. HDISC improved my computer skills especially in Excel, which is very useful and helps to make my work easier, in addition to “CV and Interview” training; this training was the essential reason for me getting this job. HDISC was the base of my professional progress on both personal and practical levels.
Sibah Tahan - Architect - Animator for CCFP
This place gave us a lot of care and follow-up in all the courses it offered, where my abilities in English developed. I learned all computer programs, and one of the most experiences that I benefited from in my practical life was "the art of speech" during which I was taught to speak in front of an audience professionally. In addition to the presentation experience, as I present to my team in my work and most of the time to children and adolescents that I introduce them to multiple topics. I am confident of my abilities now to deliver in an effective and successful way.
Angela Abboud, Information Engineer
I'm 25 years old, graduated from IT college. HDISC wasn't just a courses center for me, I consider it as my second home and a big part of my life. I gained many skills especially in English, as my conversation improved a lot. One of my dreams was to work in the managerial field, I wanted to pass on the message of youth development, impact and support the same way I have experienced. Today, I work to help the youths to reach their dreams, and I hope this concept would spread all around.
Jessica Awad, Architectural Engineer
Before coming to the HDISC, I lacked work experience and the necessary computer skills, but now I have a better knowledge of these matters. From the HDISC experience, I acquired skills that helped me improve my personality and expand my vision. I got my current job thanks to what I learned in the DISC courses, it really provides the perfect place for students to work on their projects. I will always help the team as much as possible, hoping they can benefit from my experience in architecture and wish them success in the future.
